WOW! I mean REALLY WOW! Our Senior High activities kicked off in September with 31 kids participating in a lock-in at the church to celebrate and encourage the gracious volunteerism generated by our community's ShareFest Celebration. The kids not only had a great time with one another and learned about the many local mission/service opportunities, they DID. Our kids could be seen throughout the Bloomington/Normal community serving, painting, helping, cleaning ... you name it!
Senior High fellowship is being revived after a very long hiatus. Sunday nights are now 2PC night for kids in the 9th-12th grades. It all starts at 5:00 with Sr High Fellowship in Grace Hall and Java Post with Jeannie Swanson at the helm. Focus each week will vary ... there may be a mission project, a small group Bible study/discussion, OR a big ol' fellowship activity. Regardless, there will something for everyone. We'll be asking church members to donate a light supper so don't be surprised if you get a call asking you to make some sandwiches or some Rice Krispie bars! Fellowship concludes at 6:30 ... but then ...
... Senior High choir begins at 6:30 and go until 8:00 each Sunday night. Practice is held in Grace Hall to cut down on "travel time". Chris has some new music and is really revved up about sharing our long tradition of choral music with our need to develop our faith and fellowship for our high school students.
Last, but NOT least, the Youth Committee has been able to respond to requests for "something" on Sunday mornings between services. Welcome to WAFFLE WORSHIP! Each Sunday at 10:00, Java Post is dedicated to Senior High youth and is the place where they can make their own waffles, drink some java (milk or juice too) and share some thoughts on faith-related topics. Choir kids still go to their warm-up for the 11:00 service but Java Post is the place to hang out for those kids who aren't in choir.
So, as you can see, our kids shouldn't miss a beat this fall. But as I'm sure you can also see, our church family has put themselves into 1st gear! Please keep your youth volunteers in your prayers as they continue to tirelessly (caffeine induced or not) see that our kids have the Christ-centered foundation they need to help them in life.
It's a very exciting time for our kids at 2PC! We are continuing our search to find the right person to fill our Youth Director position and when that happens, it will be even MORE exciting!
Check out our Youth Calendar for dates of upcoming activities.
