The Second Presbyterian Church Mission Ministry

The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
  because he has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
  to release the oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

Jesus lived out two primary purposes in his ministry: to proclaim the good news and to free those who were beset with illness and bondage. The mission ministries of this church seeks to walk in his footsteps by sharing good news with people around the world and offering assistance to the physical needs of people. The Missions Ministry at Second Presbyterian Church leads the church in sending its time, talent and treasure to the world-locally and globally. It supports ministry partners in the area around the community as well as around the world. It defines its tasks in the following ways:

  • To develop both short term and long term goals for missions at this church.
  • Create and maintain healthy relationships with its mission partners.
  • Plan and orchestrate short term mission trips as part of our ongoing relationships with our mission partners.
  • Provide education in mission to the congregation, both in terms of awareness of mission partners and projects as well as educating church members about the nature of missions.
