Jesus said that he came to serve, not to be served, and to give his life as a ransom (Matthew 20:28).

Christ's followers serve in response to the life Jesus Christ has given. Christ gave the blessing of life to his followers so that his followers might bless others with the life he gave to them. We are blessed to be a blessing. That is why Christians serve others.

In its best moments, 2PC models the servant life of Jesus Christ, who didn't come to be served but came to serve others so that others may have life.
