Service Hours: 9:00 AM Sunday Morning
The next Adult Christian Education (ACE) class will be titled: Historical Relationship Between Faith & Science. The classes will be held from 10:15 to 11:00 following the 9:00 AM worship service beginning April 7. Too often faith and science are viewed as opposites where one must either choose to have faith or believe in science. But throughout much of history, science and faith were intertwined and viewed as two sides of the same coin. This course will take six moments in history to deep dive into how the great science thinkers connected to faith. Lord Kelvin, a Scottish Presbyterian, came to see God in his laws of thermodynamics and John Wesley lectured on the utility of electricity. This course does not seek easy answers but instead dives into the nuance of how science and faith have connected throughout history from Aristotle and Aquinas to Galileo, Kelvin, Darwin and even modern public health -- this course will challenge you to think deeper about what science really is, what faith really is, and how they connect.

The class will be led by Professor Nathan Kapoor, an Assistant Professor of History at Illinois State University, where he teaches courses in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine. Professor Kapoor received his Ph.D. in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine from the University of Oklahoma in 2019.
